Photo Catch Up

Four photos for four days [which is really just things I bought *embarrassed shrug*]

Photobucket
These shoes were made for walking all over my uni work. New boot-like things. They are remarkably comfortable. I love them (and yes that is my Johnny Depp shrine in the corner, because I am apparantly fourteen on the inside...a must have, surely.)

Photobucket
That's right. I own a kick ass pair of high heels. Suede. And while they make my achilles tendons want to curl up and die, and I suddenly become aware of the existence of my calves, they are actually remarkably easy to walk in. I don't teeter like I do on those other heels I bought ages ago, and they weren't even high. Plus my feet don't slide around in these. This is probably due to the fact that these aren't crappy cheap shoes. But in short, they're hot.

Photobucket
A bag! It's blue. I bought another one for uni as well, but I haven't taken a pic since I'm already using it. I like brands in my bags, they're Diana Ferrari and JAG respectively.

Photobucket
And finally, a random sign at one of the bag places I stopped at. For some reason I found it hilarious at the time. Not quite sure why right now...

Groans

In the classic narrative of contemplation, early ecstacy is followed by tragic disiccation, after which the contemplative, rescued by joy, rests again among the lillies of fulfilled desire.

The lillies. Of fulfilled. Desire.

The shit I have to study, I swear...

Sickness, neo-nazi nitwits, and identity challenged Doctors

Ugh. I still feel icky. I've been out most of the day, only really got up after 6. About ready to go back to bed now. Sad. Unsurprisingly, I have no photos. I'll take three tomorrow (if I can be bothered getting up) to overcompensate.

Watched a bunch of movies yesterday after work, including The Producers and Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire.

For the first one, I have to say (and I never thought I'd say this) the scenes with Will Ferrell were by far the best ones. "Stand still! How can I shoot you if you keep moving?!" Also, this both fascinates and scares me.
Photobucket
It's...freaky.

As for Harry Potter, wow they really left a lot out of that movie, didn't they? I really only watched it to shamelessly flail over Tennant. My mother can attest to my weak, sickly glee over it. This scene in particular launched me into a random ramble...
Photobucket

Sirius head: Now tell me about this dream of yours....who was the third man in the room?
Harry: The Doctor!
Sirius head: The Doctor? But...Doctor Who?
Harry: Look, how do you think those tents got bigger on the inside? That's not magic, that's Time Lord science.
Voldemort: Did someone call?
Harry: Not Dark Lord, Time Lord.
Voldemort: Bah, no one appreciates true evil anymore.
Darth Vader: They just don't know the power of the dark side of the force.
The Master: I'm starting a support group. I quite good at setting things up you know. Ran this whole country for a while, me. Very efficiently too, if I say so myself. Built an air carrier and everything.
Darth Vader: Well, I built a Death Star. A fully operational Death Star.
Voldemort: You didn’t build it, you just oversaw the construction!
Darth Vader: I find your lack of respect disturbing...
Sirius head: Do you mind, we're in the middle of something here?
Harry: Yeah, a 903 year old Time Lord using a chameleon arch to appear human, posing as a wizard, using polyjuice potion, posing as another wizard.
The Master *to Voldemort*: Your scheme is needlessly complicated. I've always favoured the 'just gas them' option.
Voldemort: Oh right, after all, you only tore a hole in reality.
The Master: Well...at least I wasn't taunting a 14 year old boy.
Darth Vader: I have to agree here. Just kill them. Gas, force, lightsaber, tray...just get it done.
Voldemort: Don't you have a galaxy to rule?
The Master: Ah, living the dream there.
Darth Vader: We all really do have so much in common.
The Master: Not dress sense though. Seriously guys, you can be evil without billowing robes. Frankly, they're a hazard. You'd be amazed what a well tailored suit does for your image.
Sirius head: OI! Villains anonymous is through, kindly piss off.
Harry: We have important things to talk about. Things we'd rather not involve arch enemies in.
The Doctor: Like whether I'm actually wearing a kilt when I'm supposedly posing as that funny old man at that ball. Banana?
Harry: No...thanks.
Barty Crouch Jr: Don't offer the object of our master's ire fruit!
The Master: Hmm?
Voldemort: No, he means me.
The Master: But I'm The Master.
Darth Vader: There is only one master...
The Doctor: Speaking of, I suggest you run along and make sure Davros, I mean Palpatine, doesn't exterminate your son.
Voldemort: Father issues? This I have to see.
The Master: I'm in too. He's supposed to think I'm dead.
Sirius head: You are dead! You will all be dead if you don't shut the hell up!
The Doctor: Oh hello, there's a talking head in the fireplace!
Harry: That's my godfather, I was just explaining the complexity of your existence to him.
Mad Eye: That would be where I come in.
The Doctor: This is brilliant! I've found someone even Jack wouldn't...dance with.
Jack: Why do people always assume I don't actually have standards?
Snape: YOU! You gandered at my ward!
Sirius head: What is this?!?! Cameo night at the mad house?!
Barty Crouch Jr: Can we get a move on here? I've got an itch only some murdering will scratch.
The Doctor: Hm. Let's see. Who to be and who not to be, that is the question...
*some time later*
Ron: What the hell is going on here?
Harry: I honestly couldn't tell you. I stopped listening when he started soliloquising. On the upside though, I now have a sonic device, a lightsaber, and a 'Get out of death just this once' voucher valid for any Voldemort plot for the next ten years.
Ron: Ten years? Bit optimistic.
Harry: He's attending a support group.
Ron: Ah.
Hermione *entering*: Why is there a 1950s police box in the hallway?
The Doctor: A thought which, quarter'd, hath but one part wisdom and ever three parts coward, I do not know why yet I live to sa- oh sorry, yes, that would be mine.
Hermione: You can’t simply materialise in Hogwarts!
The Doctor: But I did.
Hermione: But you can’t! It says in 'Hogwarts a History' that -
The Doctor: But I did.
Hermione: But you can’t!!
Sirius head *mere embers*: And this is what I sacrifice myself for.

My throat is on fire. I need tea again. It's like the only thing that doesn't make me feel worse. Stupid sickness. I should get worker's comp for this!

It is silver and silent

Whatever is left of me, whatever I am, I'm yours.

I may be a bit behind the times, but I just saw it today...the Spaceman video. What exactly are The Killers smoking?

I have nothing interesting to report. I feel like crap and am unamused. Head stuffed with cotton wool which is detrimental to my ability to even try to take in any uni work. I had to cancel on Roze cause I just feel that useless (and my library card hadn't arrived yet). Barely slept at all last night, kept feeling like I was going to be sick. Have been trying to sleep this afternoon to no avail. You know that aching feeling, and then being cold and getting goosebumps? I hate it. It always makes me feel like my skin itself is actually hurting. So yes, like I said - unamused.

All I can do is make myself tea and hope for the best. Hopefully I get some sleep tonight, work in the morning. Joy.

I wish someone would tell me if we have readings for Tuesday's class. I can't find anything online! Bah. Also, why is it I can now suddenly think of interesting essay topics for subjects I already did? For 'Culture, Writing & Textuality', a study of sunglasses, and its uses both to hide and observe. For 'TV & Pop Culture' a case study of Life on Mars, UK vs US, and what this says about differences in the industry and audience. Also, obvious candidate would be something on Doctor Who for the cult tv section. Brain = failtastic.

Blargh. I'm fighting a losing battle here. I'm going to go stare at my ceiling instead.

Photo of the day is of my dog, lording it over everyone as she appears to think she owns the house.

Wait till tomorrow, you'll be fine

I have taken to watching Merlin on the train, since it's the only time I seem to be able to sit still for forty minutes and do nothing. The problem is, something about that show makes me grin like a fool. It's just so silly. So more often than not, you will have me sitting there trying wildly to supress my manic grinning. I suspect fellow passengers fear for my sanity.
"If this was war time, I'd have you flogged!"
"But since it's not, you'll let it go, just this once?"

I'm heading to the State Library with Roze after work tomorrow so she can show me the magic ways of research beyond my precious internet. Although we're having sessions with the UTS librarian about research and such and she said something about using google. I felt so vindicated. People always scoff at google as a research tool, but it's never failed me. Google is god. Neugh. But back to the point, I should probably compile some sort of list of what to look at/for/whatever. Simmel, I think. Proust. Literary criticism and theory. Something on network culture. Something.

Photo of the day, again from Jasper -

This is the view from the classroom I was in today. It is the old Calrton & United Brewery site which they've been working on for a while now. It looks like a bomb site to me. At least there isn't scaffolding that can randomly collaspe, unlike down in Castlereagh street. I've always found it kind of ironic that there was a brewery across the road from a university. Very apt.

It has to be said though, I was very impressed with that room. It's one of the newer ones and for Building 2 it's very nice. People had some difficulty finding it though, I found my lecturer milling around the escelators looking lost until I pointed her in the right direction (the room number she had was for the bathroom). Another girl was amazed when I showed her the magic of the escalators. See, the lifts in building 2 are disturbing and are to be avoided at all cost. More often than not if you take them you end up in the weird subterranean underworld of UTS which takes the appearance of a huge building site. It's like a concrete maze down there. I still insist if there was ever a nuclear attack, level 1 of the UTS tower is where you want to be. Make a note people.

Oh and I did manage to reference Doctor Who in class. Come on, all that space-time stuff, it's unavoidable! I think the guy who I was paired with didn't quite know what to make of me. Ah well, always the way. If you can't join them, perplex them.

If vision is the only validation

I don't know if I feel better because of the talk I had with the honours coordinator or because of the headache pills...either way, its nice not to feel on the verge of a breakdown.

That said, I realise the problem I'm having with this is that I'm trying to make Soliloquy fit into this mould it was never meant to really fit into. What I should be doing is writing a story to illustrate the issue, as opposed to trying to make Soliloquy fit the issue. So I guess that means the novel is yet again on hold. My project will draw on it though, I mean I'm going to be using the same characters really, just not in the same way perhaps. Well, I don't know. I've decided not to worry too much about the details right now and rather focus on getting research done on the topic of my enquiry - identity. More specifically identity and networking, that sort of thing.

Problem is, don't know if my supervisor is necessarily the right person for me anymore since its not really about writing as much now. Eh. I'll have a meeting with her and see how she feels about it. Otherwise I'll have to locate someone new I guess.

Anyway, here be the photo of the day as resolved yesterday. It's from Jasper since I forgot my camera. See, I am dedicated to this pointless task!
Photobucket
It is the park near my mum's work. It's just been redone and looks very swish. I was sitting on the bench this afternoon watching these two grown men playing around on the swings. They were really enjoying themselves. The moral - never grow up.

I love that Twitter can be overcapacity. I think that alone is testament to how out of control it's gotten.

On the random front, I watched Nevermind the Buzzcocks on youtube last night. So.Much.Laughter. The faster internet has made youtube a very attractive option, and more detrimental to my grade point average than ever. Ah well. Technology! Embrace it!

You know, in my uni library there are for some reason quite a few books on that show 'The L Word', which must be some academic trend since they also made us study it in Television & Pop Culture. However, there is not a single book purely on Doctor Who (there are some sci-fi books that mention it) and there certainly isn't anything on Torchwood. Now. Provided there is something actually worth investigating (which might be the problem in the first place and thus the lack of books), I could so totally do my PhD on this. I know, I know. Barely managing Honours and already thinking of a PhD. But there is a gap! And you are meant to do something that has never been done before! Come ooooon. What could be better than a thesis that involves total Whoniverse immersion?

Also, apparantly the Daily Telegraph reports that the Royal Shakespeare Company will be filming Hamlet so I could possibly still get to see David in it. Huzzah!

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise

Piss.Off.

The dance class business has been postponed until after easter when both Roze and I have a better grip on this Honours thing. We had dinner and looked for textbooks instead. Felt good to vent and know that she's in the same boat I'm in. Wish the feeling could last though, but sadly it resettled into my bones the minute I stepped through the door.

I'm so tired, I just want to chill and switch my brain off, but it's imposible. I need to type up a worksheet and I haven't done all my readings for Thursday. I also have no idea what exactly we are meant to do in class tomorrow. There's nothing online that seems to work for me, so I don't know if that's just because there's something wrong or whether they just haven't gotten to the students at the dead-end of the alphabet yet.

I wanted to buy a textbook earlier but it was $110 which made me balk. I knew they were expensive, but this thing wasn't even big! And it's social sciences! Jesus. Who knew. I'll hold off and see what I can dredge up in the State Library later this week. Might even have to venture into the uni library. There's a first time for everything.

My nails have been chewed to within and inch of their life. It's disgusting.

Homicidal rage on train in to uni as some wannabe teen gangsters attempted to graffiti the train. They were however also smoking which immediately alerted the conductor, who flapped around pointlessly for a bit before making sure we were stuck there for ten minutes while he dealt with "a security issue". The little shits just wandered off eventually. I wanted to kill them myself. Fifteen minutes late for class! I don't have the energy for this bs, I mean really. You know what also annoys me - people who listen to their music with the loudspeaker function on their phones or whatever. I don't want to listen to your music, it's a completely invasion of public space. And it's not like I can get away from it if it's on the train. Usually, it tends to be really loud too, so it bleeds through my iPod. That's what iPods and such were invented for people, invest in one.

I had this huge flashback earlier of first year, before I had a job and was perpetually broke. I'd sit for hours in this Glebe cafe just nursing a latte, cause I couldn't afford anything else, trying to do my uni readings and just feeling completely alien and dejected.

Tomorrow I'm starting a new 'blog project' if you will. I’ll be taking a photo a day for the rest of March and posting it. For no apparent reason, and to no real point or purpose. Just something to do other than fuss.

Right now I'm going to have a shower in the vain hope it relaxes me and type up this questionaire thing. What the point is, I don't know. I feel I'm just putting sticking plasters over gaping wounds really.

Did I say that I loathe you?

I'm not doing what I'm meant to. Well, I mean I sort of am, but my heart's not in it. I'm looking for texts that even vaguely relate to the topic we're studying, but all I find myself interested in pitching is interactive things, and I hardly think that's what they had in mind. I can also not really tell you how they relate, but you know what, who cares. They think I'm an idiot anyway. Why should I get myself worked into a state over it? I'm useless when I feel like this.

Craving moment of serentity and utter faith in self. I thought I had it nailed down but I must have forgotten to close the gate, cause it's escaped again. Such is life. Cds my ipod my phone dvds of 'Big Bang Theory' a coffee mug captain jack notebooks postcards red nail polish a disjointed conversation and a stack of research that needs to be done. These are the things I surround myself with while I struggle not to throw it all away and run.

I gave this woman at mum's work my copy of 'Eclipse' since I had a spare and today she sent me a box of chocolates...well Ferrero Rochers. How nice is that? Pleasantly surprised and completely unneccesary of course. Never turn down chocolate though. Fundamental rule of survival in this crazy universe.

Currently od'ing on youtube. Whoniverse withdrawal reaching critical level, and am looking for quick hits. Sad as that may be.

For some reason I just feel very out of it tonight. Probably just tired. Tired and stressed and putting too much pressure on myself to be perfect, perfect, perfect. Always with the fucking perfection. Some days I think it's ok, I mean it's a great motivator, but other days...it just breaks your spirit. I get tired of fighting with myself, of fighting with the world, but even if I knew how to stop doing it, what would that leave me with? What would I be without my issues?

I was going to jump too

I can only groan and wish there was some hole for me to stick my head in. So not in the mood for work. Headache. Possible makings of a sore throat? I don't want to be sick, its too early in the year. Remember epic chest infection that I brought back from Europe? I'm beginning to wonder whether it might possibly have been whooping cough - practice manager and entire family have been diagonosed with it and they're in the same state I was in. It would explain why I was convinced I had cracked a rib which is only now starting to feel normal again. But it was probably just what it was, a severe infection.

Anyway.

Lizzie was over on the weekend for maximum nerding out. Spent Saturday watching Return of the Jedi. I love how we spend more time yelling things at the screen and making interfandom comments, than actually really watching it. Many inappropriate things were said about stormtroopers and their secret rendezvous in the forest of Endor (come on, what exactly are they all doing in groups of two or three in the middle of nowhere, having a picnic?) This is what comes from prolonged Torchwood exposure. Speaking of, we finished watching season 1 and started season 2. As always, it fills me with endless amounts of glee cause Captain John and snarky!Ianto are made of win. We also watched 'Blink'...I still think the creepiest thing about that is the murderous expression on the angels' faces *shudder*

The nerding out was of course a lead up to the Star Wars exhibition...not that we need much of an excuse to nerd out, what with it being our natural state and all. It was a day where all our fandoms melted together as quotage and singing abounded, most notably "Stay on target! Stay on target!", "Blink and your dead!" and "Luke be a Jedi tonight." We greatly amused random strangers with our quoting ways. Our nerdiness knows no bounds. The best part of the exhibition itself was Lizzie being molested by a stormtrooper. Ok so I exaggerate, but he did bump into her and we did disolve into a huge fit of giggles. We got a photo and everything. I think we scared him since I never saw him by himself again after that, he always had his little rebel fighter pilot friend with him. Copy that gold leader, and so on. One could say they were counterparts *snort*

Look, the main thing is I amuse myself. Its the Ye Olde school of amusement.

The merch was shocking. I wanted to get a stormtrooper figure to keep my two Jacks company (due to the previously stated inappropriate behaviour of course) but they didn't have any. Come on people, Lucasfilm sells out to everything that stands still long enough, surely you could have done better than 'Clone Wars' lunch boxes! Tsk tsk.

I now have to ge through a full day at work which so far has yielded very little in the way of either work to be done or entertainment. I have my uni readings but I'm too tired and headachy to maintain enough focus to absorb anything. I'm sick of studying Marxist theory anyway. It has been following me since Year 10. Let go already.

I need new work shoes. Desperately. Also suddenly overcome by urge to watch Across the Universe. Hm.

We all flirt with the tiniest notion,
Of self conclusion in one simplified motion
You see the trick is that you're never meant to act on it
No matter how unbearable this misery gets
I'd be lying if if I said that things would never get rough
And all this cliche motivation, it could never be enough
I could stand here all night trying to convince you
But what good would that do? My offer stands and you must choose

Vaguely Academic Ramblings

Something must be happening beyond the point where they turn and become mere fragments. But to find out what that is, we should be forced to relinquish this vantage point, so deeply fought for, hardly won.
[From Flow Chart by John Ashbery]

I never thought I’d say this but…exams are probably a good thing. Since I haven’t had any in three years, my recall is shot. I know I’ve studied this stuff before but I can’t recall them off the top of my head because I’ve never actually sat down and memorised it all for exactly that purpose. It’s all a bit in one ear and out the other. But hey, I can still recite Newton’s laws word for word, exactly as I recorded it for my study notes in Year 11. But what I did last semester on poetics? Not so much, no.

POETICS – Greek poiesis [making/creating] – language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualitities instead of its apparent meaning.

Exams also meant I took way better notes. As opposed to the following stellar example of scholarly thought - “Truman Capote quote on why he doesn’t take notes – something blah blah truly own the idea blah blah.” How very eloquent and concise. And this is a writing class? Sigh. Then I’ve also scribbled stuff like “Does the artist ‘shape’ the idea, or does the idea ‘shape’ the artist? What came first, the poet or the idea? Raises interesting questions re: inspiration, the psyche/subconscious, and how this influences language and art – Heidegger, Husserl w. reference to Celan and Cixious.”

Riiiiight. [Come to think of it, that was my final essay…I got a distinction for that. Huh.]

My notes are further helpfully sprinkled with various song lyrics *shakes head*

Nietzsche! ‘Those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.’ I am particularly fond of that…mostly because it applies to my everyday escapades. How often am I looked at as being a bit mad, but I know it’s only because the people don’t “get” it. In the company of those of similar inclination, it’s not mad at all.

Speculative Rousseauism – the form of the modern state must be overcome in order to establish moral society.

Which is all well and good but what exactly does this have to do with poetics?

And of course I have to study Marxism for Cultural Studies. I will never be free of that man! As long as they don’t make me fold paper airplanes with my eyes closed again, that was just ridiculous. [In case you’re wondering, it was meant to illustrate exploitation and the destruction of traditional skills]. Two of the readings also appear to continually make reference to ‘time’ and ‘space’, and the relationship between them. This is greatly detrimental to my concentration since all it makes me want to do is play the class a Doctor Who clip. “People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff.” It is relevant. I insist. I’m playing it next week. I don’t care. They already think I’m crazy after I had to stifle a laugh when a guy used “conglomeration” yesterday.

Anyway, I am actually looking for my notes on Aristotle cause if I see the term ‘logos’ one more time, I might hurt something. That is Aristotle, right? Ah yes. Argument from reason. Relates to pathos (persuasion by emotional appeal) and ethos (persuasion by moral competence). And, in case anyone wants more Greek terms – mythos [plot], dianoia [theme], lexis [speech/diction], melos [melody], opsis [spectacle].

Joy.

Oh I’ve just discovered I am predisposed to a teleological school of thought – “one that holds all things to be designed for or directed toward a final result, that there is an inherent purpose or final cause for all that exists.” Or maybe not. I mean if you ask me “Why do you see?”, I would answer “Because I have eyes.” That’s form following function, isn’t it? So that’s more naturalistic. Teleologists would say “Because I need to.”

I think. I don’t know! All this theory hurts my head.

I realise studying Economics or such is hard, really I do, but at least you know there is a right or a wrong answer. In social sciences it’s all so bloody open ended and all over the place, as soon as you think you have a grasp of one thing, it slips away into something else. I think the key is to find one element that appeals to you and to stick to it, but I’m just not geared that way. It feels so limiting. I want to know everything. It’s more likely than not going to be my undoing.

On a completely different note, I cannot understand why anyone would see Ianto as a Mary Sue. Tropes Wiki have a ramble about it, summarising traits as :

The prototypical Mary Sue is an original female character in a fanfic who obviously serves as an idealized version of the author mainly for the purpose of wish fulfilment. She's exotically beautiful, often having an unusual hair or eye colour, and has a similarly cool and exotic name. She's exceptionally talented in an implausibly wide variety of areas, and may possess skills that are rare or nonexistent in the canon setting. She also lacks any realistic, or at least story-relevant, character flaws — or her "flaws" are obviously meant to be endearing. She has an unusual and dramatic Back Story. The canon protagonists are all overwhelmed with admiration for her beauty, wit, courage and other virtues [...] if anyone doesn't love her, the character who dislikes her will get an extremely unsympathetic portrayal. She has some sort of especially close relationship to the author's favorite canon character — their love interest, illegitimate child, never-before-mentioned sister, etc. Other than that, the canon characters are quickly reduced to awestruck cheerleaders, watching from the sidelines as Mary Sue outstrips them in their areas of expertise and solves problems that have stymied them for the entire series.

I don’t know if it even has a place outside of fanfic, but it has been said and used in context to Mr. Jones, so I’m just taking the opportunity to disagree. And it’s not just because Ianto is a guy that I don’t see him like this. If anyone in Torchwood is a Mary Sue, it’s Gwen. Every stray man and his dog are madly in love with her, and she can do no wrong. Her flaws are definitely meant to be “endearing”. So am I missing something? The only thing Ianto has is a dramatic back story…but they all have dramatic back stories. Except for Gwen, ironically. Actually, most of the people that take this view of him, tend to favour Gwen, which makes me think “if anyone doesn't love her, the character who dislikes her will get an extremely unsympathetic portrayal.” Ahuh. To be honest, I don’t see how this term would work in a canonical setting. It just doesn't seem applicable somewhow.

Aha! This is why I love this site. It really covers everything.

Mary Sue as Protagonist You Don’t Like:
An alarmingly widespread use of the term, and one reason a lot of people feel that the term has lost whatever useful meaning it once had. There are a lot of reasons why this usage is so common. Most obviously, as rants about and mockery of the Mary Sue phenomenon became increasingly well-known in fandom, it became increasingly easy to throw the term around as
Flame Bait. The fact that so many of the other definitions are highly subjective doesn't help. And, finally, this usage is the (il)logical inversion of the counter-Sue defence that a character people like can't be a Mary Sue. People who accuse characters of being Mary Sues rarely admit that this is the definition they're using. The best way to tell is if their justifications for the character's Sue-hood are all based on shoehorning, Alternate Character Interpretation, misrepresenting the sources, and Accentuate The Negative. Describe any non-fanfic character as a Canon Sue, and you'll be lucky if no one accuses you of using this definition of the term.

I’m not nearly nerdy enough to really function in this sphere of life/fandom but that’s why Tropes Wiki is there to help me out.

But yes. Speaking of Gwen, I have a Gwen haircut now. Well, it’s always kinda been the same style, but I’ve gotten my fringe thickened and now it matches hers. Does this mean Jack will now love me too? I just want to steal his wrist strap, that would be dead useful. None of this stupid research necessary…

Which I should probably get back to...what am I up to? Leitmotiv? Sigh.
